Research Field and Overview
At RIKEN RI Beam Factory (RIBF), the instrumentation development group develops, upgrades and maintains unique and distinctive large experimental equipment for experiments that make effective use of radioactive isotope (RI) beam. At present, this group has been developing and operating the electron scattering facility for unstable nuclei (SCRIT facility) and the Rare-RI-Ring for precise mass measurement. In addition, this group is also developing technologies for new experimental instruments for future plans of RIBF.

Technical Scientist or Senior Technical Scientist: 1 position.
The position at the time of hiring will be determined through the selection process.
The successful candidate will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining the electron scattering facility for unstable nuclei at RIBF (SCRIT facility*1). The candidate will develop and upgrade the SCRIT (Self-Confining RI Ion Target) device, electron accelerator and electron storage ring. The candidate is also expected to develop technologies for the next generation of unstable nuclear target devices. In addition, the candidate is also expected to contribute the effective operation, maintenance and upgrade of devices at the SCRIT facility. The candidate will be involved in the development of unique experimental devices based on new experimental techniques (RUNBA project*2). The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the management of the group, too. Senior Technical Scientist is also expected to assist the group director.
