Salary: Band D £31,931-£34,709 or Band E £39,748-£44,166 Gross per Annum (Dependent on Experience)
3 year fixed term contract, with expectations of an extension.
Location: STFC - Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot

The Particle Physics Department (PPD) at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory is looking for an outstanding Experimental Particle Physics Research Associate to work on the HL-LHC trigger and data acquisition systems on the CMS experiment.
The PPD CMS group has been prominent on the CMS experiment since the start of the collaboration, leading the design and construction of the CMS electromagnetic endcap calorimeters (ECAL), delivering elements of the Level 1 calorimeter trigger upgrade and now has a focus on the use of FPGAs for the initial data processing components of the HL-LHC upgrades for the Tracker, L1 Trigger and ECAL. The successful applicant will work on the CMS level 1 trigger upgrade on both online software and trigger algorithm development.
Can you see yourself becoming part of a dynamic team working at the forefront of particle physics and working at the largest UK National Laboratory? If so, you will need a PhD in Particle Physics or similar qualification, experience of working on particle physics experiments, good knowledge of C++ and python and experience of working on DAQ or Trigger systems.
