The MSK group is responsible for the control, synchronization and feedback systems of the accelerators at DESY. Our international team of technicians, engineers and scientists develops and operates state-of-the-art control and diagnostic devices for the European X‑Ray Free-Electron Laser, FLASH and the storage ring PETRA.
About your role:
- Development of devices, components and diagnostics for the synchronization systems providing femtosecond accuracy for the EuXFEL
- Collecting requirements on precision RF signals for the future storage PETRA IV
- Develop conceptual and technical design for the PETRA IV synchronization system meeting high availability demands
- Integration of the RF synchronization system into PETRA IV timing system
- Electronic design, prototype development, characterization and concept evaluation
About you:
- Completed scientific university education in electrical engineering, physics or equivalent specialist knowledge, skills and experience
- Very good expertise in the design and construction of lownoise RF electronics in the MHz and GHz range
- Very good expertise in RF synchronization with high precision
- Professional experience in the field of analog and digital electronics in the low- and high frequency range
- Experience with modern RF measuring devices and CAD Software (e.g. Altium)
- Work experience in creating specifications for a larger high frequency project
- Experience in building accelerators is an advantage
- High level of commitment at work and great flexibility to find solutions of very different tasks within a team
- Very good knowledge of English
