Antimatter Experiment At Cern Grade 7
£36,386 - £42,155 pa
The University of Liverpool is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral researcher to work on beam transport and handling optimization studies for the AEgIS experiment at the AD Antimatter Factory at CERN. You will carry out simulation studies into optimum beam transport from the low energy ELENA ring to the AEgIS experiment, the efficient integration of beam and particle diagnostics, as well as trap injection and particle storage/merging schemes. Working with other members of the pan-European QUASAR Group and the wider AEgIS collaboration, you will get the exciting opportunity to contribute to the planning and running of experimental campaigns. You should have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a strong track record in beam dynamics R&D, demonstrated for example through publications and initial project leadership. The working language of the international research team is English. This fixed term post has an initial duration of 3 years.
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 37 from the date of their award.
Closing Date: 11 December 2022
