The section Control Systems provides and maintains core software tools, APIs and building blocks to build reliable and robust control systems for the different large research facilities at PSI. The control system is based on the open platform toolkit EPICS to meet the challenges in data acquisition and device control in modern accelerator facilities. Motion Control Specialist
Your tasks:
Driving the development and standardization of the integration of motion control systems into the existing control system infrastructure;
Active documentation and knowledge sharing within your specific area, and promoting the use of our standard devices and building blocks;
Consulting and advising stakeholders on their foreseen projects around motion and motion control;
Working with mechanical and electrical engineers, to design, deliver and troubleshoot motion subsystems;
Understanding a motion control system’s architecture, and the interface between the powertrain motor control and precision mechanical stages, including tuning of PID control loops and other motion parameters.
Your profile
Degree in software engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, natural sciences or equivalent level of knowledge;
Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interested in constructive exchange with peers;
Practical knowledge of the principles of motion control systems;
Experience from design to commissioning and troubleshooting of motion control systems;
Initial, but good, programming skills, and a strong interest to improve it.
