The European Synchrotron, the ESRF, is an international research centre based in Grenoble, France.

Through its innovative engineering, pioneering scientific vision and a strong commitment from its 700 staff members, the ESRF is recognised as one of the top research facilities worldwide. Its particle accelerator produces intense X-ray beams that are used by thousands of scientists each year for experiments in diverse fields such as biology, medicine, environmental sciences, cultural heritage, materials science, and physics.

Supported by 21 countries, the ESRF is an equal opportunity employer and encourages diversity.

You will develop, implement and deploy machine learning based image analysis methods for reconstruction of neural circuits and interpretation of 3D neuronal images from X-ray nano-tomography data.

This position is part of the ERC Brilliance project, aiming to resolve and analyse neural circuits in meaningful brain tissue volumes. Addressing this global challenge is essential to advance knowledge on fundamental principles of brain function, to cope with neurological disorders and to develop the next generation neuromorphic computing architectures.

You will join a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary research group and you will work with collaborators from Harvard, Janelia, Melbourne University and Scalable Minds. You will have access to high-performance infrastructure and resources for personal development.

Please include in your application a short statement (max 100 words) on your motivation to take this position.
