We are seeking outstanding applicants for Postdoctoral Fellow positions at QUP in theoretical physics with a strong background in areas such as particle phenomenology, cosmology, astroparticle physics as well as quantum field theory applications. Preferred candidates will also be interested in bridging theoretical work with experiments and observations in order to discover new physics.

The contract for this postdoctoral fellowship will be on an annual basis. The contract renewal depends on the continuing availability of funds and the fellow's satisfactory job performance. The maximum term of the position is three years.

Successful candidates are expected to interact and collaborate with QUP Principal Investigators Kazunori Nakayama and Volodymyr Takhistov, as well as conduct independent research. Postdoctoral Fellows will benefit from interactions with QUP experimentalists who are involved in and lead various international projects, including novel dark matter searches in laboratories and space missions for cosmology and astrophysics. Interdisciplinary research at QUP is also facilitated by its satellite laboratories at the University of California at Berkeley (USA), Toyota Central R&D Lab. and ISAS at Japanese space agency JAXA. Further, Postdoctoral Fellows will have the opportunity to regularly interact with members of the KEK Theory Center, which comprises Japan's largest particle theory group with broad expertise.

International Center for Quantum-field Measurement Systems for Studies of the Universe and Particles (QUP) is a World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) promoted by the Japanese government and hosted by the leading national high energy physics laboratory of Japan KEK (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization). QUP is dedicated to discovering the fundamental laws of the Universe and inventing as well as developing new systems for measuring quantum fields. Our research integrates particle physics, astrophysics, condensed matter physics, measurement science, and systems science, and we believe that our work has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of the Universe.

As a WPI research center, QUP is designed to establish an international environment where more than 30% of researchers are non-Japanese. English is the official language of QUP. QUP is an equal opportunity employer that will build a diverse community of scientists. We welcome qualified applicants worldwide, including women, persons with disabilities, and underrepresented minorities, regardless of race, color, religion, gender identity, etc.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or a related field by the time the appointment begins. The posting shall remain open until the positions are filled. However, for full consideration, we encourage all candidates to apply by November 30, 2024. Applications will only be accepted via AcademicJobsOnline.org . Applicants should submit curriculum vitae (with an email address and citizenship), a statement of research interests, and a list of publications.
