The Department of Physics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) invites applications for PhD positions to work Prof. Kenny Chun Yu Ng broadly in the area of astro particle physics. Possible topics for research includes theoretical, data analysis, and computational projects in dark matter indirect detection, neutrino astrophysics, high-energy astrophysics, and LHAASO data analysis. The expected starting date would be Autumn 2024, but negotiable.
CUHK is located in Hong Kong SAR of China, and is one of the major comprehensive research universities in the area. Affordable dormitories are often offered to PhD candidates. With also a competitive stipend and only a 20 minutes subway ride to the city center, CUHK offers excellent balance between a quiet suburb lifestyle and a bustling city lifestyle where the Eastern and Western culture meets.
We encourage applicants with experience, or have interests in high-energy astrophysics, particle astrophysics, data analysis, and machine learning applications to apply. Exceptional candidates will be nominated to apply for the Hong Kong PhD fellowship scheme , which provides substantial bonus to research/travel budgets and stipend.
