The Institute for Particle Physics and Astrophysics (IPA http://www.ipa.phys.ethz.ch/ ) of ETH Zurich invites applications for a Postdoctoral Physicist position in experimental particle Physics to work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

The IPA CMS group is strongly involved in data analysis, with primary focus on studies of Higgs boson properties, b physics, and the search for new physics. The group is responsible for operating the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) and the pixel detector and pursues their (phase 2) upgrades in view of the HL-LHC.

The successful candidate is expected to make leading and original contributions to the group's scientific program in particular in the physics of the Higgs boson, and to participate in the teaching activities at ETH Zurich. Further opportunities to participate to detector developments and operations are available to the successful candidate.

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Particle Physics and an excellent record of successful work in the field, including extensive experience in data analysis and excellent programming skills.

Applicants should send their application by e-mail to ipa-cms-pd@phys.ethz.ch , including a motivation letter, a curriculum vitae, and a statement of research interests.

In addition, they should arrange for three letters of reference to reach the same address.

The review of incoming applications will start immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is identified. We suggest applying by the 31st of October 2024 to ensure full consideration.

Inquiries regarding the position should be directed to:

Prof. Rainer Wallny ( rainer.wallny@phys.ethz.ch )

Dr. Mauro Donegá ( mauro.donega@phys.ethz.ch )
