The Physics Division of the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) invites expressions of interest for faculty positions at the Full Professor level from highly qualified candidates worldwide with an interest in Dark Matter experimental searches.
The GSSI Physics Division hosts scientists carrying out interdisciplinary research on a variety of subjects, mainly in Underground Particle Physics, Gravitational Wave Astronomy, Multi-messenger Astrophysics, High Energy Astrophysics, Cosmic Rays and Cosmology. The GSSI is a Center for Advanced Studies, with a prominent program of graduate courses. About 40 Physics Graduate Students from all over the world are at GSSI at any given time, and part of the duties of the Faculty is to provide teaching and supervision of their research activity. Interdisciplinary projects aimed at increasing the connections with other research areas at GSSI (mathematics, computer science and social science) are welcome.
Currently, the Underground Physics research groups at GSSI focus on experimental searches for Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay (CUORE, CUPID, LEGEND), Dark Matter (DarkSide-20k, CYGNO/INITIUM, COSINUS) and Supernova Neutrinos (ResNova). Also, R&D for next-generation rare event searches is being pursued at GSSI. The present call for expressions of interest is aimed at probing the interest of Italian and international colleagues to join the GSSI faculty, in order to enrich the existing spectrum of expertise with a particular focus on Dark Matter searches within the DarkSide programme.
Applications should be sent by email to eoi-phys@gssi.it (please indicate LE-EXP-2024 in the email subject)
and should include:
1) a cover letter
2) a Curriculum Vitae,
3) the names and email addresses of at least two referees,
4) the list of publications (highlighting the 5 most significant publications of interest for the
