Job Details

The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), located in Grenoble, France, is Europe’s leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons, hosting over 2000 visits by scientists annually. Within the ILL’s Partnerships and Communication Service (PACS), we are looking to recruit a support officer for European projects for a threeyear term. This position is crucial as we aim to increase the number and quality of proposals led by and involving ILL, particularly within Horizon Europe’s Pillar One (infrastructure, Marie Curie actions), sciencefocused projects in Pillar Two, and innovation projects in Pillar Three. The role will complement our permanent staff member, who coordinates the European Office’s activities, leveraging new scientific opportunities after a comprehensive facility upgrade and supporting ILL’s ambitious scientific strategy.

Are you interested in taking up a new challenge in our international institute?

Your tasks

You will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring current and future work programmes to identify the most suitable and promising calls to respond to, and promoting project proposals based on these;
  • Assisting ILL staff with research proposals by ensuring compliance with funding policies, coordinating submissions, and writing and revising drafts;
  • Networking with organisations in Europe (e.g. LENS, LEAPS, EIROforum, etc.) to establish a range of partners and contacts as potential consortium members in proposals and projects;
  • Lobbying at national, European and Commission levels to create future calls tailored to the needs of the ILL;
  • Conducting follow-up on submitted proposals and liaising with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Coordinating accepted proposals as part of the European Office team, including project monitoring and budget reporting to the European Commission.

Your profile

  • Higher university degree in a scientific or technical domain or project management (or equivalent);
  • Recent and significant experience, including a strong track record, in preparation and submission of national and preferably EU proposals;
  • In-depth knowledge of European Commission project methodology and terminology;
  • Excellent communication skills for lobbying and networking;
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills in English;
  • Experience in an international research environment would be appreciated;
  • Experience in project management.
