The PhD position in quantum physics (theory) is available at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Cologne,

which is funded within the collaborative research center “Entangled States of Matter” (CRC183). Commencing its third funding period on July 1, 2024, this project promises four years of stimulating research. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Dmitry Bagrets, ( https://www.fz-juelich.de/profile/bagrets_d ), who contributes to this network as one of its Project Leaders.
The PhD project will be centered around fundamental questions regarding the interplay between quantum gravity, quantum information, and entanglement. More concretely, it aims to bridge the realm of the SYK (Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev) model with AdS3/CFT2 and investigate the measurement-induced dynamics of entanglement from a holographic perspective.
Interested candidates should apply via https://jobportal.uni-koeln.de/bewerben/1772
For informal questions, please contact dmitry.bagrets@fz-juelich.de .
The application deadline is August 7, 2024. The position is available immediately, and the starting date can be negotiated.
The University of Cologne promotes equal opportunities and diversity. Women will be considered preferentially in accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesgleichstellungsgesetz - LGG NRW). Applications from members of all underrepresented groups in physics are encouraged.
