Call for Expressions of Interest in Open rank Faculty Positions

in the Physics Division of the Gran Sasso Science Institute:

Experimental study of the cosmic radiation

(HE-EXP)

The Physics Division of the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) invites expressions of interest for an open-rank faculty position (assistant professor, associate professor, full professor) from highly qualified scholars worldwide with interests in the experimental study of cosmic radiation with space based missions and in related R&D activities.

The GSSI physics division hosts scientists carrying out research on a variety of subjects including: cosmic rays, multi-messenger and high-energy astrophysics, gravitation and cosmology, dark matter searches, searches for neutrinoless double beta decay.About 10 physics graduate students from all over the world are admitted at GSSI every year among hundreds of applicants, and part of the duties of the faculty is to provide teaching and supervision of their research activity in the field of Astroparticle Physics. A new PhD program has also been recently added on “Innovative technologies for space missions and radiation detectors”.

More information on research in Physics at GSSI can be found here:

The present call for expressions of interest is aimed at probing the community for scientists at international level who might want to join the GSSI faculty. The new faculty member is expected to be an expert in the experimental study of cosmic radiations, and give a key contribution to the design, simulation, operation and data analysis of innovative instruments for space based experiments.

Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree in physics or related fields prior to the appointment, with a proven record of achievements in the above field, a clear potential to promote and lead research activities and a specific interest in teaching at the graduate and postgraduate level to a small set of particularly skilled students.
