The theoretical Physics Division of the National Centre for Nuclear Research, NCBJ (Warsaw, Poland) invites applications for a 4-year fully funded PhD position in the QCD Group.

The PhD project concerns the theory and phenomenology of QCD at high energies and is funded by the National Science Centre, Poland.

Research group:

The QCD group consists in: Prof. dr hab. Lech Szymanowski, dr hab. Jakub Wagner, dr Paweł Sznajder, dr hab. Tolga Altinoluk, dr Guillaume Beuf, dr Alina Czajka, a few postdoctoral researchers and a few PhD students. The group is in close relation with various research groups abroad, in particular at Ecole Polytechnique (France), University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and University of Connecticut (USA), and focuses on theoretical and phenomenological studies related to LHC and EIC physics.

The successful candidate will work mostly with dr hab. Tolga Altinoluk and dr Guillaume Beuf.


The PhD scholarship is 5000 PLN gross per month. Business travel money, as well as access to computer hardware is provided (including an access to computing cluster).


  • MSc degree in physics
  • knowledge of basics of Quantum Field Theory, in particular QCD
  • fluent English, both spoken and written
