The International Center for Hadron Astrophysics (ICEHAP) at Chiba University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to advance research in high-energy neutrino astrophysics with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in advancing multimessenger observations with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and provide leadership for its future upgrade, the IceCube-Gen2 facility.

ICEHAP at Chiba University is one of the world's leading research groups in high-energy neutrino astronomy. Achievements led by ICEHAP include the first discovery of PeV-energy neutrinos, world-leading searches for ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos, the discovery of the anti-electron neutrino-induced Glashow resonance, and the first identification of an astronomical source emitting ultrahigh-energy neutrinos with IceCube 170922A. Information on the history and science of IceCube can be found at http://www.icehap.chiba-u.jp/en/icecube/index.html . ICEHAP is also playing several key roles in the design and fabrication of optical detectors for the ongoing IceCube upgrade, and is currently heavily involved in the design of the detector for IceCube-Gen2. More details can be found at http://www.icehap.chiba-u.jp/en/icecube/icecubegen2.html . ICEHAP and Chiba University offer a competitive start-up package, computing facilities, and laboratory space for detector development. We are looking for a well-motivated Ph.D. physicist/astronomer who is enthusiastic about improving multi-messenger observations led by IceCube and IceCube-Gen2.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D or equivalent in physics or a closely related field. The review of applications will begin September 16th, 2024, however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Interested candidates should send a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, a list of publications, a statement of their research plan, and arrange to have at least two letters of reference sent electronically to:
