The Underground Experimental Physics Group at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position to work on one of the following two underground experiments:

1. Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO)

2. Particle and Astrophysical Xenon Detector (PandaX)

JUNO aims to probe the neutrino mass ordering with a sensitivity of 3-4 sigma after 6 years of data taking starting 2024. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in the detector calibration of JUNO, including both hardware and software, and make significant contributions to the physics analysis using the first JUNO data.

PandaX is a multi-purpose experiment located at China Jinping Underground Laboratory. It uses a liquid xenon TPC to search for dark matter and neutrinoless double-beta decay, as well as study astrophysical neutrinos. The successful candidate will be building an active veto surrounding the TPC to reduce neutron and gamma backgrounds, and perform R&D for a novel cold liquid scintillator-based veto.

SJTU is a major research university, an active member of the JUNO collaboration, and the lead institute for the PandaX experiment.

The initial appointment is for two years, and renewable assuming satisfactory performance. The successful candidate is also eligible to apply for national funding and fellowship to supplement the research.

The candidate should have a PhD in experimental particle physics, or a closely related discipline. Experiences in hardware, simulation, and data analysis are preferred.

The application, including a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a research statement, and three letters of reference, should be sent to Prof. Junting Huang (junting@sjtu.edu.cn).
