Postdoctoral position on Quantum Machine Learning & Collider Experiment

Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Beijing, China invites applications for a postdoctoral position on applications of quantum machine learning for high energy colliders: High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) or BES-III.

IHEP is a national laboratory and the premier high-energy physics center in China. It hosts Tier-1 (LHCb) and Tier-2 (ATLAS, CMS) grid sites and provides excellent computing resources. IHEP is leading the initiative in China to seek for quantum opportunities in high energy physics: .

The candidates are expected to contribute to developing applications of quantum machine learning for the HL-LHC, CEPC and/or BES-III. There is a possibility to work partially on ATLAS or BES-III based on the experience of the applicants.

The appointments will initially be for two years, with the possibility of an extension, subject to mutual satisfaction. Outstanding candidates will be recommended to apply for various fellowships at IHEP and CAS.

Eligible candidates should have a Ph.D. by the time of the appointment in experimental particle physics or related fields. Experience with quantum computing is not required, but that in machine learning is appreciated. Candidates at an early stage of their career will be given a higher priority.
