The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) is a newly established university located in Shenzhen. The School of Science and Engineering offers programs in physics and other scientific disciplines.

The group of Dr. Kai Zhou is currently inviting applications for Postdoctoral Researchers from 2024 (the exact starting date is negotiable). The position offers an exciting opportunity to delve into a wide array of topics within the interdisciplinary realms of Physics and Machine Learning. Areas of particular interest include but are not limited to high energy nuclear physics - QCD matter studies in extreme conditions (encompassing e.g., heavy ion collision-related physics, neutron star equations of state inference, or lattice field simulation, etc.), statistical and computational physics, nuclear physics, inverse problem solving, computational THz imaging, hydrodynamics simulation, machine learning for physics (and physics informed machine learning), quantum computing, etc. The candidates will work with Dr. Kai Zhou, and may engage in collaborative research within CUHK-Shenzhen and with international universities/institutions e.g., Goethe Uni./FIAS and GSI in Germany, Swansea Uni. in the UK, etc., with possible short-term or long-term international visits.

Candidates with experience and interests in numerical simulations in high-energy nuclear physics or related areas, theoretical calculations, and applications of machine learning or quantum computing techniques to physics are highly encouraged to apply.


Recent Ph.D. in physics (high energy nuclear physics or theoretical physics), or in computational physics, computer science, or a related field.

Salary and Benefits:

Internationally Competitive annual gross salary ranging from 300,000 to 350,000 CNY (before tax, where 180,000 CNY would be tax-free) depending on experience;
