Overview

The LPC Clermont-Ferrand is recruiting a researcher for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship on ATLAS, as part of the ANR EFTatLHC. The proposed research will focus mainly on Higgs boson physics, but also on Top quark physics, and on EFT interpretations that can be performed coherently in both sectors. The experimental contribution on the Higgs will focus on the analysis of ATLAS data from Run 3 in the search for the simultaneous production of two Higgs bosons in association with a pair of top quarks. The production of ttHH is so rare that it will not be observable with Run 3 data, yet this process gives access to EFT operators difficult to constrain otherwise. This is why the development of EFTs interpretations will complement this analytical work, oriented in particular towards operators with different behavior with respect to charge-parity symmetry (CP-even / CP-odd), in particular via possbile collaborations with theorists. This work could then be coupled to a phenomenological study aimed at identifying generic effects of CP-even and CP-odd operators in the quark top sector, based on angular observables in ttbar events. Finally, these two projects (Higgs and Top) could be combined in a global approach to best constrain the CP-even or CP-odd nature of a possible phenomenon beyond the Standard Model, in particular affecting the third generation and the Higgs boson.
