A post-doc position on "Data reduction at the High Level Trigger of the CMS experiment" is available at the University of Pisa (Italy) to work on the project "Partially Reconstructed Event (PRE): a new perspective on the computing model in HEP," funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research through the PRIN 2022 program. The project's objective is to replace raw data in the CMS experiment with partially reconstructed event content in order to increase the maximum sustainable trigger rate while reducing the event size. The research tasks will involve defining a new data format, measuring performance, and enhancing online calibration and reconstruction.
Candidates are required to hold a doctoral degree in physics with a thesis in high-energy physics. The gross annual salary is € 29 994.83, corresponding to a net monthly salary of about €2200.
Additionally, secondments to CERN are expected, along with opportunities for international workshop and conference attendance.
The position has a duration of 16 months.
